Part community event, social gathering, party and fundraiser, Salmagundi, VeeVee and Station 8 joined forces Monday night to host the community and help raise money for the family of slain Tedeshi’s clerk Surendra Dangol. The community came out in force to support the event making Monday night on Centre Street resemble its normal Thursday or weekend self. People shopped, hung-out, and took advantage of the discounts and perks that were provided in support of the fundraiser. Merchandise was on sale at Salmagundi, while VeeVee held a beer tasting provided by Pretty Things Beer. Brent Refsland, owner of the Hallway who also works at VeeVee opened the 2010 season with a new showing of art on the restaurants walls. Station8 provided massages, stylist consultations and discounted appointments. All three businesses combined efforts to hold a raffle with proceeds going to the family of slain Tedeschi’s clerk Surendra Dangol. All fronts were satisfied by the event which brought the neighborhood out to socialize on a brisk winter’s night and raise money in response to the recent tragedy, allowing JP residents to show off a bit of what makes the neighborhood unique.
