While USDA inspectors continue to go tree to tree looking for any signs the Asian Longhorn Beetle put down additional roots in JP, another front has opened up in the battle. City and State Officials announced the MBTA Arborway yard along Washington St. would house a wood disposal station for any ALB host wood removed from the quarantine area. Officials said the site was the only place inside the designated area to meet their needs, but area residents raised concerns about the process used to choose the site as well as the additional noise and traffic they believe it will bring to the area. See the full story below.
Officials encouraged anyone who believes they’ve seen a beetle to call 1-866-702-9938. Details about the beetle, the quarantine, and eradication efforts are available through the City of Boston and The U.S. Department of Agriculture.
