Ken Ward and Andree Zalaska took a former neighborhood store in Jamaica Plain and turned it into a low-cost, low-tech, energy efficient sustainable home. They invited the world into watch their process hoping they’re experience will offer a new blueprint in urban home construction. Although the house isn’t completed, they spend approximately $50/month total in utility charges and have spent approximately $250,000 on the house to date. Roughly the new house market mean for the area. Ken and Andree believe they’ll conserve enough to sell energy back to the grid.
