The JP Greenhouse: Energy Efficient Not Rocket Science

Ken Ward and Andree Zalaska took a former neighborhood store in Jamaica Plain and turned it into a low-cost, low-tech, energy efficient sustainable home.  They invited the world into watch their process hoping they’re experience will offer a new blueprint in urban home construction.  Although the house isn’t completed, they spend approximately $50/month total in utility charges and have spent approximately $250,000 on the house to date.  Roughly the new house market mean for the area.  Ken and Andree believe they’ll conserve enough to sell energy back to the grid.  They say the JP Greenhouse is a model applicable to anyone regardless of income level and they invited us into their new home to learn all about it.  Check out the full story below.
